Man Gets Community Service for Firebomb Attacks

The Tel Aviv District Court has sentenced Chaim Mula, 20, to six months of community service for a series of firebomb attacks. Mula allegedly firebombed homes and businesses in southern Tel Aviv rented by illegal entrants from Africa.

He was convicted in a plea bargain deal of assisting in the attacks, but most charges were dropped due to lack of evidence that he himself threw the bombs. The plea bargain and subsequent light sentence drew angry reactions and calls to cancel the deal and put Mula on trial.
