Widespread Power Outage in Damascus and Southern Cities

Damascus and cities in the south of Syria experienced a widespread power outage Saturday night.

Syrian Electricity Minister Imad Khamis said in response that the outage was due to a "newly discovered problem with the high voltage line which left the southern part of the country cut off from the electricity supply."

As of now, the streets of the capital are completely dark and the lack of fuel is making it difficult for citizens to operate emergency generators.
