Consumer Price Index Expected to be Low


Analysts at banks and elsewhere in the investment world predict that the consumer price index for January, to be published today, will be very low, on the order of 0%. At the same time, there are  expectations that the index will surprise in upward or downward directions, due to the weight of housing and housing maintenance in the calculations and a jump in the prices of fruit and vegetables.

Governor Stanley Fischer of the Bank of Israel is expected to leave interest rates unchanged at 1.75% for March until the budget formulation and approval by the cabinet and submission to the Knesset.

Analysts at banks and capital market predict that the CPI for January, to be published today, will be very low and will be 0%. However, there are also expectations that the index will surprise both directions, due to weight gain housing and housing maintenance and jump in the prices of fruits and vegetables.
Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer, is expected to leave interest rates unchanged for March, at 1.75% until the budget formulation and approval of the Knesset transfer.
