Police Chief Yochanan Danino said, Thursday, that police will work to eradicate violence and racism at the nation's professional soccer fields. His comments came at a meeting with Chairman Avi for Luzon of the Israel Football Association as part of continued cooperative efforts against the phenomena. Also in attendance were retired judge Amnon Strasnov, who chairs the Council for Prevention of Violence in Sports, representatives of the State Prosecutor's Office, Commander Nitzan Mor, who heads the police operations branch, and Jerusalem District police commander Yossi Pariente.
Commander Danino said, "All those present share a common interest - elimination of the phenomena of racism and violence in sports. We must eliminate these phenomena at the roots. As far as I'm concerned, this season will go down in histor as the one when we went up a step in the struggle against racism and violence."
