Member of Knesset Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism party) was elected temporary chairman of the Finance Committee on Wednesday. MK Gafni stated, "with respect to the 'equal burden' issue, the real problems will be decided by the Finance Committee." MK Gafni's statements alluded to his feelings that economic woes were more pressing then the debate over army service.
Until the negotiations for the coalition government are completed, the Knesset is approving temporary heads of committees to ensure the smooth workings of essential services.
MK Gafni has been in the Knesset since 1988.
