Court to Rule if Remedia Responsible for Babies Deaths

The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court will issue its ruling on Wednesday as to whether or not three senior officials at the baby food company Remedia are responsible for the death of 3 infants and the serous illness of 23 others due to negligence.

The Israeli Health Ministry conducted tests on Remedia's formula back in 2003 after an unusually high number of babies, all fed Remedia, were being admitted to Israeli hospitals, suffering from damage to the central nervous system.

According to the ministry, despite its label saying otherwise, tests revealed that the formula had a “complete lack” of vitamin B1, which is vital for the normal functioning of enzymes and nervous tissue.
