The township of Beit El is expanding and Mayor Moshe Rosenbaum is praising the move. 90 new housing units will be constructed. This past year 30 units were demolished as part of a Supreme Court case.

Responding to negative statements by non-governmental organization, Mayor Rosenbaum stated, "the die is cast, the situation is irreversible. We are 15 minutes from Pisgat Zeev," he stated referring to Jerusalem's northern-most neighborhood. He compared Beit El's status to that of Gush Etzion, located about 15 minutes from Israel's southern edge.
