Rabies in Golan Kibbutz

The Health Ministry reported, Monday that a cow and a large black Labrador retriever living on Kibbutz Kedmat Tzvi (on Route 91 opposite the entrance to the Nachal Jalbun Nature Reserve) in the Golan Heights tested positive for rabies. The ministry asked that anyone who was in the area or had animals in the area, who may have come in contact with the infected animals, to contact the Northern District Health Office in Tzfat at 04 699-4218 or 699-4257 or the health office nearest one's home, and if they are seeing a notice like this after hours, to go to an emergency care facility. Animal owners are advised to contact veterinary authorities to check on their immunizations.

The ministry wanted tourists visiting the kibbutz and the surrounding area to be informed, as well as parents of children who may have come into contact with the infected animals.
