Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday-morning trading with modest gains. About 50 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,085.70, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,086.75 for the TA 100, including a rise of .42 percent to 1,217.44 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers was the bank index, which advanced .52 percent to 1,172.41 as the financial institutions stood at 1,111.70, up .22 percent, tempered by a .31-percent decline to 1,253.62 by the insurance issues. Most of the technology stocks rose .32 percent to 333.18, while the biomed index slipped .11 percent to 858.74. The real-estate issues stood at 322.00, up three tenths of a percent, while the oil and natural-gas stocks edged up .19 percent to 1,123.01, and the communications index stood at 497.03, down .77 percent.
