J'lem International Book Fair Opens Jubilee Edition

The fiftieth edition of the Jerusalem International Book Fair opened, Sunday evening, at the Binyanei Ha'umah Jerusalem International Convention Center. This year's fair features more than 100,000 books from more than 500 publishers in various languages from 30 countries next to Israeli publications. Admission is free.

In a speech to open the event, President Shim'on Peres said, "If someone asked what would be the most perfect and grandiose dream I would want to dream, I would say that Jerusalem would be the capital of books, literature, and writers."
