MK Avi Wartzman of the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party called Sunday for United States President Barack Obama to free Jonathan Pollard, who has served over 25 years of a life sentence for passing classified defense information to Israel.

“With his reelection, Obama has had a second chance to do the most moral thing fall in his lap,” Wartzman said. “Freeing Pollard in advance of his presidential visit would be an important gesture to the entire Jewish people.”

Obama is expected to visit Israel in March.
