Robot Drills First-Ever Hole into Rock on Mars

For the first time ever, a robot has drilled into a rock on Mars and collected a sample.

The Curiosity rover used its robotic arm to dig a hole 0.63 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep into a Martian rocked dubbed John Klein. Scientists are hoping they will find evidence of wet environments that may have existed on Mars long ago.
