In a move which has enraged Egyptian activists, an Egyptian court ordered that YouTube, the popular video-sharing site, be blocked for one month for streaming video footage deemed offensive to Islam, the state-run Middle East News Agency reported.

According to court documents, YouTube, “did not respect the belief of the millions in Egypt and it overlooked the state of rage that prevailed amongst Muslims."

Egyptian activists use the site to spread videos of police brutality and to air calls for protest. A recent video which depicted Eyptian police brutally beating a protester, has sparked riots in three major Egyptian cities.
