Rabbi Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi, the head of the Ateret Yisrael Yeshiva, was taken to Hadassah Ein-Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, Thursday evening after he complained of not feeling well and lost consciousness at his home in the capital's Bayit Vegan neighborhood. His doctors described his condition as very serious. Members of the family said that the rabbi has not felt well since returning from abroad on Monday.
Rabbi Ezrachi is one of the leading rabbis in the Lithuanian hareidi-religious community. His current condition will prevent him from taking part in Thursday evening's meeting of the religious leadership of the United Torah Judaism party regarding the government coalition and calls for more hareidi participation in national service.
