Elkin Expects Hatenu'ah in Coalition

Outgoing Coalition Chairman Ze'ev Elkin said, Tuesday morning, that he expects Tzipi Livni's Hatenu'ah party to join the new government that Prime Minister and Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu has been assigned to form. Livni refrained, last week from making any recommendation on who should form the government.

Referring to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas during an interview on Israel Defense Forces Radio, Elkin said, "If Tzipi Livni knows how to convince Abu-Mazen to work, of course, it is welcome. Exactly what can Tzipi Livni's role be in this system? It will be decided in negotiations. According to what I understand, Hatenu'ah wants to enter the coalition."
