Ceremonies marking the start of the 19th Knesset will be held Tuesday afternoon, in the presence of President Shim'on Peres and Supreme Court President Asher Grunis. As the oldest member of Israel's parliament, Acting Speaker Binyamin Ben-Eliezer will conduct the swearing in of 48 new Knesset members. Ben-Eliezer and President Peres will also deliver opening remarks and there will be readings from the book of Psalms and Israel's declaration of independence. Singer Kobi Aflalo will perform two songs before the singing of the national anthem closes the main ceremony. There will be a small ceremony for faction heads in the Chagall hall.
Ben-Eliezer will preside until the Knesset votes on a speaker. Seating arrangements will be temporary until formation of a new government determines the alignment of the parties.
