Newly-installed Secretary of State John Kerry of the United States telephoned Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority Sunday evening (Israel Time). During the call, Kerry expressed the need for a direct meeting between them to discuss the renewal of the peace process with Israel.
