Individual indices reported modest to sharp gains on Sunday as the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended its first day of trading for the week. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,060.78, up 1.57 percent, while the TA 100 climbed 1.56 percent to 1,063.09, including a 1.51-percent gain to 1,195.19 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 ended the day at 444.03, up 1.34 percent.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which soared 2.24 percent to 1,198.81 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,077.75, up 1.61 percent, including a gain of 1.48 percent to 1,135.93 by the bank issues. Next came the biomed stocks, which jumped 2.03 percent to 843.31, while the rest of the technology index posted a closing figure of 327.36, up .88 percent. The Ma'ala organization's list of socially-responsible companies climbed 1.95 percent to 893.89, followed by the oil and natural-gas issues, which ended the day at 1,114.71, up 1.38 percent. The real-estate stocks closed at 314.18, up 1.11 percent, and the communications index advanced .57 percent to 500.45.
