Shas Reveals Coalition Demands

Representatives from the Shas party will meet Sunday afternoon with representatives from the Likud Beytenu party to discuss the terms  under which Shas would join the coalition. Shas will seek a commitment to soften the blow of economic cuts for socio-economically weaker segments of society, and will make demands regarding the Jewish identity of the state, Maariv/nrg reports.

The two parties are also expected to discuss demands that hareidi-religious young men enlist in the IDF. Shas politicians have expressed willingness to be flexible on the issue, but have spoken out against the idea of coercing young men to enlist, a plan they say would backfire.
