The number of marriages registered in the city of Tel Aviv continued to drop in 2012, the city’s Rabbinate has reported. In 2012, 2,820 couples married through the Rabbinate, a 5% drop compared to 2011. Overall, there has been a 10% decrease over the past three years.
Three-quarters of those marrying in 2012 were under the age of 30. Ten percent were over the age of 40.
Tel Aviv has the highest divorce rate nationwide. A total of 711 couples divorced in the city in 2012.
