The Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party’s coalition negotiating team plans to seek the promotion of an initiative to make Sunday a day off, giving Israelis a Saturday-Sunday weekend, sources in the party say. Representatives from the party are to meet with Likud Beytenu representatives to discuss the terms under which Bayit Yehudi would join a Likud-led coalition.
Currently many Israelis do not work Friday or Saturday. Under the long weekend initiative, Friday would become a work day, but would be shorter than a regular work day in order to allow workers to be home in time for the Jewish Sabbath.
