Accounts of 250,000 Twitter Users Hacked

Twitter announced Friday that it had experienced high-profile cyber-attacks against media companies, adding that there is a possibility that hackers gained access to the information of 250,000 of its more than 200 million active users.

The social media company said that it detected attempts to gain access to its user data and that the cyber attacks were shut down moments after they were detected. However, Twitter maintains that there is still the very real possibility that hackers may have stolen the user names, email addresses and passwords of 250,000 users.

Twitter reset the passwords and notified those affected.
