Davidi Perl, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, on Friday welcomed Defense Minister Ehud Barak's approval of new building plans throughout Gush Etzion prior to his stepping down. Earlier this month, Barak approved the construction of housing units in Tekoa and Nokdim, and in late December he approved the planning and construction of 527 housing units near Alon Shvut.
"I believe there were many considerations behind Barak's approval," Perl told Arutz Sheva. "There could be an element here of Barak wanting to be remembered as a good defense minister. Barak has many rights."
