Jordan Demands Fund for Syrian Refugees

King Abdullah II of Jordan demanded, Thursday, that a fund be established to help Arab countries which have absorbed refugees, especially those from Syria's civil war. Speaking to the international conference of donors to help the humanitarian situation in Syria, taking place in Kuwait, the king noted that his country has received and is still receiving hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees and is bearing the burden of providing for them with basic humanitarian services beyond Jordan's ability to do so.

An official Jordanian army source said 1,677 refugees crossed the border into Jordan on Wednesday and Thursday. The source said the figure included children, women and senior citizens, as well as many wounded people.
