Despite the tensions in the north of Israel, Defense Minister Ehud Barak will not cancel his planned trip to Germany to attend the Conference of Defense Ministers taking place in Munich.

Barak intends to return to Israel on Sunday. Substituting for him as  Defense Minister while he is away is the MInister for Homeland Security, Avi Dichter.

Barak was in Switzerland last week and did not take part in the government meetings on the situation in Syria.
