The gains had a slight advantage over the losses as the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened for business, Monday morning. About a quarter of an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,058.74, up .01 percent, while the lack of change in the TA 100 reflected a drop of .18 percent in the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 edged up .01 percent to 437.73.
Leading the gainers was the biomed index, which climbed 1.34 percent to 817.67 while the rest of the technology issues averaged 327.67, up .21 percent. The financial institutions stood at 1,078.76, up .14 percent, The insurance component rose .11 percent to 1,208.72 while the bank stocks declined .42 percent to 1,129.68. The real estate index stood at 315.71, down .07 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index slipped .18 percent to 1,142.64 and the communications issues stood at 503.61, down .26 percent.
