MK Tibi: Monitor Beitar Jerusalem-Maccabi Umm El-Fahm

Member of Knesset Ahmed Tibi (Ra'am-Ta'al-United Arab List) demanded from President Michel Platini of the Union of European Footbaal Associations (UEFA), Sunday evening, that it send observers to Tuesday night's State Cup soccer match between Beitar Jerusalem and the Maccabi club from the northern Israeli Arab city of Umm El-Fahm.

Tibi asked, in a letter "Prevent or monitor racist chants by some of the Beitar fans, including against the prophet Muhammad and against Arabs." The letter was prompted by racist chants by Beitar fans at Saturday night's game in response to reports that the team was close to signing a pair of Russian Muslims. Three fans were banned from attending games for the rest of this season and next season.
