Overcrowding at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, Sunday, resulted in the hospital recommending that people avail themselves of community family medical centers, health maintenance organizations and urgent-care facilities instead of the hospital's emergency room for anything less than urgent care requiring an ambulance.

A heavy patient load was reported in several of the hospital's departments, including the in-patient wards.
