Lapid to Insist on PA Talks

The Yesh Atid party will insist on three things in exchange for joining the coalition: recruitment of hareidi-religious men to the IDF, reducing the number of ministers in the government, and resuming diplomatic talks with the Palestinian Authority, according to senior party sources who spoke to Maariv/nrg. The party would be willing to sit in the opposition rather than compromise on those things, they warned.

Lapid has previously said he would insist on talks with the PA, but also said he would not freeze construction in Israeli cities in Judea and Samaria. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas says he will negotiate with Israel only if Israel first makes several concessions, among them a full construction freeze east of the 1949 armistice line.
