History: Gas Flows from Ship to Hadera Power Plant

Liquified natural gas started flowing for the first time, Saturday evening, between a supply ship anchored 10 kilometers/six miles off the coast and the Israel Electric Company's generating station in Hadera. The ship was brought to a buoy at the location during the past week. It is connected to an underwater pipeline which will serve all the utility's power plants.

Chairman Yiftach Ron of the electric company's board of directors said, in a statement, "It's an historical moment for the state of Israel's energy industry and the liquified gas project will serve as a future insurance policy for producing dependable, available and high-quality electricity for the citizens of the state of Israel."
