Ghetto Encyclopedia Launched Online by Yad VaShem

The Yad VaShem International Holocaust Research Institute has launched the Hebrew online edition of the Ghetto Encyclopedia, containing over 1,150 entries, encompassing the history of all Jewish ghettos across Nazi-occupied Europe during WWII. “For the first time,” explains encyclopedia editor Dr. Leah Price, “users can explore core questions like ‘Why establish the ghettos? Why only in Eastern Europe? How is ghetto establishment associated with the establishment of Judenrats?’” Knowledge is available about even the minor, short-lived less-known ghetto histories.
