Defense Minister Ehud Barak evaluated the election results for the first time in an interview aired on CNN.

Barak said that social welfare protesters had gone out to demonstrate last year in record numbers, but felt that the government is ignoring them and now, they want a place in the government

The outgoing Defense Minister also expressed his hope that the negotiations with the PA on a permanent settlement to the Arab-Israel conflict would be started again.
