Barak Hirschson was sentenced to seven months in prison Wednesday for driving drunk and causing a car accident that left his then-girlfriend critically injured. His former girlfriend now suffers physical and mental handicaps.

Hirschson will also be required to pay the victim 25,000 shekels. He has expressed extreme regret for his actions.

Hirschson is the son of former Finance Minister Avraham Hirschson, who was released from prison a week ago after serving three years and five months of a 5-year, 5-month sentence for fraud and other offenses.
