Labor Seeks Invalidation of Kahlon Appointment

The Labor party made urgent application, Monday morning, to the Central Elections Committee, the state comptroller and the attorney general to demand the cancellation of Sunday evening's announcement by Prime Minister and Likud party chairman Binyamin Netanyahu that he intends to nominate outgoing Communications and Welfare Minister Moshe Kahlon to chair the board of the Israel Lands Administration.

Labor claimed that the appointment is contrary to the basic law governing the lands administration as well as instructions by the attorney general regarding appointments during the election campaign, explaining that it was driven by improper motives and extraneous considerations which have a direct bearing on its propriety.
