Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett rejected the words of Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef who claimed his party cannot be considered a religious party and said Jewish Home has come to uproot the Torah.
"Friends, I extend great honor and a deep appreciation to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef as a scholar and as the greatest halakhic authority of today," wrote Bennett. "But I do not agree at all with his words ...Our aim is not to uproot the Torah, but rather to bring the beautiful face of Judaism and tradition to the People of Israel. To be a bridge between religious and secular, between Sephardim and Ashkenazim," he added.
"We are Jews who want to do some good," Bennett wrote.
