20,000 Police on Alert for Elections

While Tuesday is supposed to be a "Shabbaton", during which people in "non-essential" work will have the day off to promote a higher voter turnout, the police and civilian volunteers will be out in force to to secure polling places and maintain order. The staff of the police switchboard will also be beefed up.

Forty election-related cases have already been opened. Police are also responsible for escorting the ballots from the precincts to the place where they will be counted.
