Agitators from the Palestinian Authority staged a fake wedding in an attempt to bypass Israel Defense Force soldiers, according to Maan News Agency on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Mevaseret Adumim neighborhood of Maale Adumim. The area is known as E1, and now called Bab al-Shams by the PA.
Residents of the PA this week set up protest tents with PLO flags. Israeli officials have petitioned the Supreme Court to forcibly remove them fearing terrorist activity and land takeover.
Maan News quoted Palestinian Authority Member of Parliament Mustafa Barghouti as stating a man and woman dressed up as a newly married couple, with PA activists posing and wedding guests to attempt to get past an Israeli roadblock. IDF forces stopped them.
The barren area is officially part of the municipality of Maale Adumim and very close to Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
