The Coalition Against Racism in Israel issued a statement Tuesday expressing dissatisfaction with a Supreme Court verdict that will allow the Otzma Leyisrael party to air a controversial ad. “We regret the Supreme Court’s ruling, because many parts of Otzma Leyisrael’s ads smell of racism and cast aspersion on the entire Arab public,” the group said.
“The Arab community is law-abiding like other residents of the state of Israel, with no connection to religion, color or ethnic background,” it continued. “A democratic elections campaign must be free of any sign of racism.”
The ad in question names specific Arab cities in Israel as places where not all residents pay taxes or abide by building laws.
