MK Ze'ev: Always Say You're Willing to Negotiate

Israel should announce to the world that it is prepared to negotiate with the Palestinian Authority, even if it knows that such negotiations will never result in peace, MK Nissim Ze'ev (Shas) said on Monday.

Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Ze'ev said that such declarations are part of required diplomacy, but noted that in practice it is clear that there's no partner for peace and that any PA leader who will sign an agreement with Israel will be assassinated by his own people.

"We need to say that we are prepared to negotiate even if we know the negotiations will collapse," he said. "Extreme and bombastic statement may attract voters but we should nevertheless avoid harmful and unnecessary statements."
