Chairman Naftali Bennett of Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party) called, Sunday, for budgetary responsibility. Responding to reports of a deficit that is twice as big as expected, he said, "The government of Israel has acted irresponsibly. Although the government knew that it was taking in less, it continued to spread more money around, and even promised 30 billion shekels in new expenditures before the start of the new year."
Bennett continued, "The time has come to manage the citizens' money responsibly. The state budget does not belong to the government but to us. We pay taxes and deserve a government that does not act extravagantly."
