Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert continued Sunday with accusations that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu wasted taxpayer money on unnecessary military expenses. “Israel recently purchased a submarine from Germany for 500 million euros against written recommendations from the commander of the Navy and other senior military commanders,” he claimed, speaking at a conference at the Emek Hayarden college.

“It was a megalomaniac purchase made solely out of caprice,” he added.

Netanyahu has rejected Olmert’s previous charges as “bizarre and irresponsibe.”
