Storm Damage Estimated at Hundreds of Millions

Chief Executive Officer David Ginsburg of the Insurance Fund for Natural Disasters in Agriculture said, Friday, that damage from this week's storm was estimated at tens of millions of shekels, but the precise figures will only become clear next week. Interviewed by Kol Yisrael government radio, Ginsburg said 20,000 dunam (5,000) acres of land in the Hula Valley were flooded, and additional damage was caused by strong winds and hail.

CEO Amir Hayek of the Manufacturers Association told the network that damage in the business sector amounted to 300 million shekels a day. Noting that infrastructure was neglected in many areas, he said a lot of damage was caused by flooding and power outages.
