Eilat Jazz Show to Go On Without Stanley Jordan

Organizers of the Third Annual Winter Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat said, Thursday, that they will try to find an artist to replace guitarist Stanley Jordan, who announced, last Saturday, that he was cancelling performances scheduled for January 17th and 19th, the opening and closing nights of the three-day festival. The Jinjirrie Website reported, Sunday, that Jordan, whose hayday was in the late 1980s, bowed to a cultural boycott by Arab sympathizers after initially chosing to honor his commitment and "hold a special event later on in the year to promote justice for Palestinians."

Kol Yisrael government radio reported, Friday, that people who bought tickets can exchange them for other performances. Among the international artists scheduled to appear are Poland's Motion Trio, French-American Jackie Terrason, Brazil's Benjamin Taubkin, the Eric Truffaz Quartet from France, the Acoustic Quartet of Dutch saxophonist Yuri Honing and European-based American guitarist-jeyboardist Kurt Rosenwinkel's Standards Trio, in addition to a number of Israeli performers.
