The snowstorm, a heavy one by Jerusalem standards, has caused public transportation in the city to come to a standstill.

The buses cannot function and the light rail, touted as impregnable to snowstorms, is also not functioning due to a technical problem that is being repaired at present.

The muncipality requests residents to refrain from using private vehicles for two reasons: first and foremost, the danger of skidding and second,  interference with heavy equipment that is attempting to clear the roads.
