The Shin Bet Israel Security Agency reported, Monday that attacks were down in December, but called the figures high. With only one mortar attack originating in Gaza, 81 of the 111 other attacks originated in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), 30 within the confines of Jerusalem, down from a total of 166 for the capital and the eastern Palestinian Authority-assigned areas in November.
The agency said that 98 of the attacks were firebombings, six involved explosive packages and three involved grenades. Two involved small-arms fire, one was a stabbing and one involved a motor vehicle. Three security officers were wounded.
