Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened the trading week, Sunday with modest gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,075.29, up .54 percent, while the TA 100 index rose .53 percent to 1,079.98, including an advance of .48 percent to 1,216.39 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the biomed stocks, which ended the day at 813.52, up .92 percent, while the rest of the technology index declined .33 percent to 330.14. The communications and media issues advanced .45 percent to 525.05, followed by the insurance stocks, which closed at 1,198.32, up .24 percent, as the financial institutions slipped .12 percent to 1,094.69, including a .33 drop to 1,171.23 by the bank index. The real-estate issues edged upward .07 percent to 319.34, followed by the oil and natural-gas stocks, which ended the day at 1,181.49, up .03 percent.
