MDA has announced home storm precautions in advance of the intense winter system expected this week.

  1. Ventilate homes heated by gas.
  2. Never cover a heater powered by an exposed electrical element coil.
  3. Maintain all heater electrical connections.
  4. Watch out for gas poisoning symptoms – dizziness, nausea, discomfort or unconsciousness. Dial 101 for emergency care.
  5. Keep toddlers and the elderly warm with loose layers of light clothing and blankets. Maintain a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.

Keep babies away from thick blankets and small objects.
