Modest to sharp losses marked the end of the trading week, Thursday, for most indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,069.52, while the same percentage drop meant a posting of 1,074.25 for the TA 100, including a decline of .88 percent to 1,210.62 for the 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 slumped 1.24 percent to 432.64.
The lone bright spot was the communications index, which rose four tenths of a percent to 522.72. Worst hit were the insurance issues, which plunged 3.16 percent to 1,195.46 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,095.96, down 1.48 percent, including a .73-percent decline to 1,175.07 by the bank stocks. Most of the technology index fell 2.22 percent to 331.24, while the biomed issues closed at 806.07, down 1.3 percent. The oil and natural-gas issues stood at 1,181.13, down 1.42 percent, and the real-estate stocks declined .64 percent to 319.12.
