Chief Rabbis Pen Letter Against Abortion

The Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar and Rabbi Yona Metzger penned an urgent letter to the rabbis of local synagogues asking them to take a stance against abortion.

The letter deals with the upcoming Parashah which tells the story of Jewish midwives who refused Pharoah's decree to kill all Jewish male babies. "As in past," the letter reads, "So too this year we call on all rabbis in Israel…to raise in their words and sermons in synagogues on Shabbat Parashat 'Shemot' the severe prohibition of abortion."
