Detained Israeli to Remain in Egypt for 15 Days

Egyptian officials said Andrei Pashnichikov, the Israeli who has been imprisoned in Egypt since Friday, will be detained for 15 days as security officials continue with their investigation into his illegal entry from Israel into the Sinai Peninsula.

A judicial source said the 24-year-old is suspected of espionage. The Israeli "infiltrated into Egypt through a mountainous area near Taba," the source added, without elaborating.

Other sources claim Pashnichikov illegally crossed into Egypt in an effort to gain entry into Gaza where he wanted to fight against Israel.
